Inviting Manuscript Submissions for 2024–2025
·

From May 1 until July 31, prospective authors and editors are invited to submit their manuscripts for review by the directors of punctum books (Eileen A. Fradenburg Joy and Vincent W.J. van Gerven Oei) and its Editorial Advisory Board. This year we are looking to accept around twenty manuscripts for publication in 2024–2025.

We welcome submissions for monographs and edited collections from academic and para-academic authors and editors working in any field in the humanities, social sciences, fine arts, and architecture/design who want to publish books that are genre-queer and genre-bending and which take experimental risks with the forms and styles of intellectual writing.

Three primary concentrations for us are (1) books that shift the paradigm in established disciplines; (2) books that help to create emerging transdisciplinary fields; and (3) books that play in the fields of creatively speculative thought. In particular, we would like to invite female-identifying, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and/or disabled authors to send in their manuscripts for consideration.

Since our call for submissions least year, we have unfortunately seen a full-blown expansion of the right-wing culture war against trans and gender-nonconforming folks, with an onslaught of legislation denying medical assistance, gender reassignment identity papers, and access to education, the banning of books, anti-trans sports bans, anti-drag show bills, bills prohibiting public school teachers to create safe, inclusive learning environments for LGBTQIA+ students, and more. We thus want to reiterate our interest this year in dispatches from the front lines of these assaults on LGBTQIA+ lives.

More information on the submission process can be found in our online documentation.
